Creating a better world, one word at a time

As we make our way, day by day, through very difficult times, the question keeps arising: How can I contribute, in some small way at least, to being the change I want to see in the world?

I have no doubt that the answer lies in in the power of creative imagination.

Every human innovation has begun as the dream of a creative person who then has the drive to manifest their vision in the world.

How we choose to channel our creative energies is important—world-changing, in fact!

That’s why I am no longer interested in reading or writing dystopian stories. I don’t want to water those negative visions of the future with my attention.

Instead, I want to focus on creating vibrant stories of the thriving future I want to live into and co-create.

This is not to say that I am ignoring the problems that beset us now. I do not see the world through rose-colored glasses, by any means.

But when I tell stories of suffering and destruction, I want to do it in an alchemical way, transforming the pain into lessons in resilience, helping us grow wiser, stronger and more prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

In my new book, Purposeful Memoir as a Quest for a Thriving Future, I offer eight writerly Quests for the positive qualities that we need to cultivate in order to create that thriving future we all yearn for.

As we write into our desire for a bright, nurturing world, we begin to create it, one word at a time.

Sharing positive stories, we light up the hearts and minds of our readers, generating a warmth radiates out into a world so in need of our positive energy.

Dear friends, now is our time, and we have to make the most of it, building sturdy bridges into the future with our creative imaginations.

Through our writing, we can jettison what no longer serves us, and cultivate transformational new ways of relating to each other and the Earth.

This Spring Equinox, I dedicate myself anew to creating a better world through the magic of creativity.
