Writing Thrutopian Fiction Workshop at the WriteAngles Conference

The all-day WriteAngles Conference at Bay Path University, hosted by hosted by the Straw Dog Writers' Guild of western Massachusetts, is an opportunity to connect with other writers in the region, meet with literary agents, and learn from outstanding presenters. This year I will be presenting a hand-on writing workshop on the process of writing a "thrutopia," a vision of the world we desire, and a road map, in vivid fiction, for how to get there.

Thrutopia is a new kind of speculative fiction that intentionally subverts the more common dystopian science fiction in order to plant the seeds of possibility for a better world. If all we see when we look into the future is dystopia, that’s what we will inevitably create. Every human innovation began first in the imagination.
