We often assume that social justice work is all about raised voices and raised fists, requiring leading, advocating, and fighting. But what does social justice work look like for those of us who don’t feel comfortable battling in the trenches?
In a lively online event sponsored by the Birth Your Truest Story online writers’ community, co-hosted by Audrey Kalman, we’ll discuss this question and more with Dorcas Cheng-Tozun, most recently author of Social Justice for the Sensitive Soul: How to Change the World in Quiet Ways, named a “New & Noteworthy” book for 2023 by Christianity Today.
Dorcas came to understand through personal experience how the traditional view of activism may not fit everyone and may in fact cause personal harm and suffering to those of us who are sensitive. Her most recent book blends historical and contemporary examples, personal experience, and psychological insights to offer practical and inspiring ideas for changing the world–whether or not you consider yourself sensitive.
We’ll talk with Dorcas about her book, her publishing journey, and how she has brought her unique gifts as a writer to the work that matters so much to her.
