Annual Tuscan Memoir Retreat
Sometimes you need to step away from your ordinary life to see the contours of your life journey more clearly, understand more deeply how you arrived at this present moment and set your intentions for the ever-unfurling path ahead.
Our home base, Borgo San Fedele, is a meticulously restored monastery set in exquisite gardens amid a classic Tuscan landscape of olive groves and vineyards. Relaxing by the infinity pool or enjoying dinner on the terrace, you’ll feel your spirit simultaneously soothed and enlivened, opening to new creative possibilities.
Bring your work in progress or start something new! I have a host of thought-provoking writing prompts to get you going, and we’ll be sure to make time for a one-on-one author coaching sessions during the week, to talk about your writing goals and what kinds of support you might need.
Each day will unfold in a perfect balance of writing and sharing….
We’ll take daily excursions to nearby picturesque medieval towns, letting the beautiful light of Tuscany inspire our writing….
We’ll enjoy memorable meals, including a dinner at a local Chianti Classico winery and a lunchtime visit to the historic town of Siena….
San Fedele will become your home away from home, a place to relax and visit with new friends…or find a quiet corner to focus on your writing….
You’ll come away from this magical sojourn with a new understanding of your purpose in writing memoir, along with many pages of new writing providing a plethora of potential doorways into the story of your life.
The 2024 retreat runs May 25 – June 1.

Jennifer, I love your method of having people write, and how you give feedback and conduct your workshops. You have a lot of experience and know what you are doing, and it shows. One feels safe, in good hands. You have a settled, thoughtful manner which really helps, especially in such a stimulating, beautiful environment. The intimate atmosphere was well-suited to writing and sharing, and the balance of writing and exploring the countryside was right. San Fedele was lovely, the food was great, and our Il Chiostro hosts were so welcoming. The excursions were wonderful!

Tuscany certainly didn’t disappoint! I felt so well taken care of by our wonderful Il Chiostro hosts. They went beyond any care I have ever felt in this kind of situation. I will forever remember them. Jennifer, your prompts opened some doors for me which I appreciate. Writing at San Fedele was magnificent, and writing in different places was a plus. I hold such amazing memories from our time with each other—thank you!
